30 Day Song Challenge, Day 27 – A Song That You Wish You Could Play

You’ll gather from yesterday’s post that today’s could have contained just about any song, ever, given the subject matter.

Whenever I thought about what specific song I was going to include in here, though, I kept coming back to this one number. It is another that I need to thank my sister Karen for introducing me to and the album that it comes from was one of those which soundtracked my second year at university.

At the time, the song pretty much summed me up – a sort of upbeat melancholy that is as hard to explain as it is to describe. Listen and you will see what I mean.

And the reason that I wish I could play this song in particular? Simple. It is the piano solo at the end, a beautiful, meandering and completely improvised work of art courtesy of Jools Holland*
