Baby Anne

My mother was a childminder for a long time and over that time she looked after a huge number of children. Anne was one of the last of these and, as she shares the same first name as my mother, she was always referred to as ‘Baby Anne’ to avoid confusion (she’ll be in her late 20s now, I wonder if her friends know this?).

I can’t remember Anne’s surname (which I should, as her father taught me extra maths as a part of my parents’ desperate attempt to get me to pass that exam) but I do remember one story about her. Anne had two older brothers and at one point she announced to my mother that they had a ‘wee stick’ but she didn’t.

A very perceptive young lady, recognising fundamental design flaws at an early age. I hope she has a good life.
